Aer Vase - 19
The Audo Copenhagen Aer Vase takes the idea of capturing movement and actually pulls it off - those rippled, asymmetrical waves genuinely look like they're frozen mid-flow. Designer Gabriel Tan set out to capture the spiralling movement of air seen through smoke or mist, and the result is this undulating form that reads differently from every angle. Made from mouth-blown smoke-colored glass, each vase is genuinely unique with its own visual characteristics and subtle variations that come from the handblown process. Available in three sizes at 19cm, 33cm, and 49cm tall, each tapers gently to its base creating this fluid silhouette that works whether you're filling it with a dramatic bouquet or leaving it empty as a sculptural object. The smoke-colored glass has this tactile, almost ethereal quality where light passes through and creates depth, making it compelling to look at from across a room and even more interesting when you walk up close and see how the ripples catch light differently throughout the day.
What makes the Aer Vase more than just decorative is how those liquid-like waves actually function - the asymmetrical opening naturally guides flower stems into interesting arrangements rather than forcing everything into a rigid vertical bouquet. The rippled surface gives flowers something to lean against, so arrangements feel more organic and effortless rather than stiff and formal. Works beautifully with everything from single dramatic stems to loose, garden-style bouquets where stems can cascade naturally along those undulating curves. The three sizes let you choose based on your space and what you're filling it with - the small works on narrow shelves or bedside tables, the medium handles most everyday bouquets, and the large makes a statement on dining tables or console tables where you want real presence. The mouth-blown construction means the glass has substance and weight rather than feeling fragile, and that smoke color is sophisticated enough for minimalist spaces but warm enough to work in more eclectic interiors.
Audo Copenhagen was formed by uniting MENU, by Lassen, and The Audo, creating a brand that collaborates with international designers like Gabriel Tan who bring fresh perspectives to traditional crafts. Tan, who founded his eponymous studio in 2016, works across disciplines and borders exploring new ways to reinterpret tradition, craft, and technology. Based in both Singapore and Portugal, his practice combines a background in furniture design with a deep appreciation for culture and storytelling, creating objects for brands across Europe, the US, and Japan. His work for Audo reflects the brand's commitment to pieces that balance simplicity, sculptural beauty, and functionality - resulting in objects like the Aer Vase that enhance spaces through thoughtful design and skilled craftsmanship rather than just filling them with more stuff.
